If your goal is to make money online, let me start off by telling you that contrary to the ads that promise quick riches, you will NOT make tens of thousands of dollar overnight, or even in a month when you first begin. The best thing you can do is to go in to it with all you have, setting small goals before moving on to bigger ones. I am all about honesty, so here are a few things I feel will help you stay realistic and achieve success.
- Making money online does require work. Sure, you can set up your business so that it is automated for the most part, but getting to that point takes some elbow grease. If your dream is to sit on the couch watching reality shows or sports without lifting a finger, you’re not going to make it in the online world. Laziness loses the race.
- Making money on the internet is not only for those “geeks” or “gurus” who seem to have some inside knowledge or information that us “normal” people do not have. Absolutely ANYONE can make money online with the right attitude and motivation.
- If you want to make money online, you have to take action. When you’re first thinking about an online career, it’s easy to get caught up reading blogs (hopefully this one), forums, guides, etc. You lose yourself in the fascination, forgetting that in order to make money you’re going to have to actually do something! Take action, even if you aren’t sure you’ve got it all together just right. When you take no action, you can guarantee you aren’t going to make a dime.
- The internet is a competitive world, and perfect for those who enjoy a challenge. Today, millions of people are making money on the web. Some make a little trickle every now and then, others make tens of thousands per month. It’s a competitive world, but the challenge of doing something and making it work is extremely rewarding.
- Set realistic goals for yourself. In all honesty, it’s exciting when you make your first $10 online, and that motivates you to try harder. Write down your goals and look at them every day to keep you focused. When you reach your first goal, set the next one a little larger. By working steadily to reach one goal and then the next, you won’t be disappointed when you fail to make $500 that first week or month.
The truth is, there is some way for every person to make money online whether it’s through writing, marketing a product or service, putting together webinars for online businesses, building websites and selling them, writing your own e-book, blogging or becoming a virtual assistant.
The great thing about the internet is that there are opportunities out there for anyone who is serious about making money. The sad thing is that so many ads promise huge money for doing very little if anything, and that’s just not the way it is. You work at your day job, why not work online for yourself instead of making your boss wealthier?
